According to the State Curriculum for Basic Welding:

Basic Welding is a course in which students will learn basic skills and knowledge related to cutting and welding applications. Welding and cutting skills will be developed in the context of a series of projects. Combined with the second year course, Welding Applications, the student should be prepared for Entry Level Welding Certification as defined by the American Welding Society QC10.
